Parent Testimonials

"Vali began attending Theophany School in the fall of 2003. He lives in Needham with his mom and dad and baby brother, Sam. His legal name is Carl Valentin but we call him Vali. He was born in Romania, and his birthmother, Valentina, gave him the name Valentin. We decided to keep that as a middle name in honor of her. However, once we saw how well Vali seemed to respond to the nickname given to him by his foster parents, we knew the name Vali had to stay. Vali's Romanian heritage is one of the things he brings to Theophany. While we were in Romania to bring Vali home with us, we had a visit from a relative of a Romanian friend. She gave him a very special gift-an icon of Jesus, which has been in his bedroom since.

Vali enjoys school very much. He tells us he likes to learn about Jesus. He has brought home prayers that are new to us, as we worship in a Presbyterian church, and he enjoys announcing, "now let's do our crosses" after grace at meals. He is an easy-going child who adapts well to new situations. Like many children his age, he has a very active imagination, and sometimes it is a challenge to separate fact from fiction, but we are working on this. He certainly keeps us entertained, and his energy continues to amaze us.

We are grateful to have a place like Theophany School that offers a nurturing space for his young mind, to allow him to explore the world outside his home. While home is an important place to learn the basics of how we are to live in God's Kingdom, it is very comforting to know that the lessons we are trying to teach him at home are supported and reinforced in a Christian School. "Our first day at Theophany School started in September of 2002 when a shy three-and-a-half year old, Maria, began her preschool education. Under the loving guidance of her teachers and surrounded by Orthodox Christian friends, Maria blossomed intellectually, spiritually, and socially.

Katerina joined Maria in the multi-age classroom for the 2003-2004 school year where both thrived and were challenged intellectually while they also learned about the depths of our faith through song, prayer, and hands-on activities.

Katerina currently is a student in Theophany's pre-Kindergarten class where she constantly amazes us with little anecdotes and information gleaned in the classroom. In a few short months, she accumulated all of the tools and knowledge she'll need for public school next year. We are so thankful for the loving Orthodox Christian environment of Theophany where she experiences our faith daily and where being an Orthodox Christian is a way of life.

As a family, we deeply appreciate our Theophany experience over the past several years. Our children's education and faith experiences in the program have given them tools for life. We only wish the remainder of their school careers could be in the same intellectually-stimulating and Christian environment. However, we know that they will always fondly look back at their Theophany years and will carry what they learned with them through the next 12+ formative years of education. We pray that God continue to bless the Theophany family and school for many years."
